Well, one thing that might help the HMO department is Medicare D. I know, I know, all I hear are complaints regarding this Medicare D stuff, however, I really think it's going to benefit a whole LOT of people. Perhaps not all of the recipients, but most of them. Interestingly enough, I'm starting to understand the trend of this new "hurt a few to help a lot" philosophy. Unfortunate as it is for the few that get hurt, it's a step in the right direction for the capitalist strategy running the American health care system. With Medicare D, at least there's a bit of a break, you can go fill your prescriptions at whatever pharmacy you like. Unlike other HMO's that completely control that too. But I see it as the beginning of a phase, lower cost medical for everyone. I'm not saying socialize it! or anything like that, because I think socialized medicine has a lot of problems, but I am saying that as soon as we start getting the right people the right money, for the right amounts - there's more money for everyone. Besides, suddenly 40 million Americans have health care coverage that they didn't have access to before. Who's paying for it? They are. Thus relieving the state of some of it's financial burdens and bureaucracy. And that's a relief for everyone.
