Someone was interviewing Ian McKellen, who plays in the movie. They asked him what he felt about the Catholic critics that say that a warning should be placed on the poster and at the beginning of the movie to state that the story is fiction. His answer: "We'll do it as soon as they add one to the cover of the Bible." While I don't agree with the undertone of his answer, I do agree that the world should be smart enough to understand that it's fiction. Do we really believe that toys can talk and that mutated people walk on the Earth and cause explosions around New York City?

Well, toys and mutated people aside, do we really believe in zombies, swamp thing, superman, that animals can talk to each other, or that in a little town called the Shire, hobbits exist? Give me a break people please! Most of what comes out of Hollywood is pure fiction, and if it's not, it's got a National Geographic stamp on the packaging somewhere. The DaVinci Code is nothing more than Indiana Jones or National Treasure, do we let that change our religions? I'll admit that some of the issues mentioned in the DaVinci Code might be pertinent to today, but movies are SUPPOSED to do that, they are supposed to make us think about things and question our version of reality. We've gotten all too accustomed to movies that don't make us think about anything (ahem, X-Men, MI3...) and when something comes around and makes us talk about it we have two options, deal with the issues at hand, or squash it ASAP so we can go on spending our money and not making any differences to ourselves.
