Britney and her "OOPS"

Ok.. so the papers have been pretty full of Britney Spears and her quickie marriage the last few days. Everyone is probably sick of her (I know I was even before this!).
I have a big PFFT for Britney Spears. It's not for the quickie marriage itself, but for the fact that she is so shy on talent that she had to stoop so low to get some free publicity. Free it was and low it was.
The media is way too kind. They report on her as though she is still ruling the top of the charts. Wrong. Yes, her CD "In the Zone" debuted at #1 on Billboard's Album chart, but that was 5 weeks ago. Since then it has slid down to #13 and shows early signs of a quick death. On the Billboard "Hot 100" (the chart where artists live and die) she has not had a Top 10 hit since Mid 2000 (yeah, you guessed it: "Oops.. I did it again" which peaked at #9). She has not cracked the top 10 since. Her recent single with Madonna "Me against the Music" peaked at an abysmal #35. Sounds more like "The Music against her!"
So this marriage is getting her more press then she's had in a long time! (Press = Success in H'wood). What a way to breathe life into a sagging career. 3 Pfft's for Britney!
