Just Stop It
   by mike <mike@pfft.net>

"Hurricane Katrina was a mess. It could have been handled better. We'll handle it better next time."

The above would have brought the Katrina controversy to a sufficient end, if you ask me. But being the "holier than thou" society we are, we just have to point fingers, don't we? Shame on you people.

Michael Brown, the former director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, has been stuck with the bulk of the blame (and public outrage) for the government's poor response. You say he was unqualified to hold the position. If you think that the President of the United States appoints only those with exemplary qualifications to run federal agencies, you have another think coming. Hell, the President isn't even qualified to hold his damn job. Half the time, agency heads have no training or experience with the agency they now run! It's patronage, people. That's what gets you federal employment.

Republicans make me sick. You're money-hungry, power-grabbing sycophants who feel compelled to force your will upon others in some hegemonic gang-bang. So far, you have invaded two countries and simply said to their inhabitants, "This is ours now; get out," completely dropped the ball during one of the greatest natural disasters ever to hit the U.S., and continue to deal blows to gay and abortion rights. Well done. Maybe everything should just all go back into the 1950's (there were gay people then too, by the way). That'd make everything better, wouldn't it? You seem so tense, honey... let me get my Betty Crocker apron and I'll whip you up a nice batch of cookies.
