How do these people manage it?
   by ZenShadow

I'm the type of person that believes that people are entitled to make a good salary for making a useful effort in life. I'm also the type of person that believes that it should not be done at the expense of others.

I had occasion this morning to ask myself this simple question: how do car salesmen live with themselves?

Here are people who make their living by taking other people for a ride (no pun intended). Their sole job is to sucker as much money out of you as they can, regardless of whether or not they think you can truly afford it.

The more money they take from you, the more money they have for themselves. They don't even seem to have any compassion for your finances. They want to make you suffer.

Personally, I wouldn't be able to sleep well at night knowing that I just charged some guy four or five thousand dollars more than I should've. I couldn't do it. No way.

Unfortunately, I'm that guy that got taken, knowing full well that it was going to happen. It always does.

Somehow, that doesn't make me sleep any better either; the only advantage is that maybe this time, since I got what I wanted instead of what I really should have gotten (aka: nothing), it'll be the last time for a long while....

In the mean time, though, that salesman is probably out buying one hell of a nice dinner. I imagine he made a killing on me, even after three hours of negotiating.
