PFFT!
On the Job

Vacation Days
   by yawetag

Here I sit at work (duh!) bored out of my mind and pissed off like hell.

As a previous Daily PFFT! mentioned, the department I work for had to do some adjustment, which caused a 1st shift job to be removed. Originally, there were 3 people on 1st shift and 1 for 2nd and 3rd. We also had 2 people that did 12-hour shifts on the weekends. Because of the adjustment, there's only 2 people on 1st. If anyone from an off-shift wants a day off, someone from 1st shift has to work for them. BUT, there can't be 1 person by himself on 1st shift, which makes all of us off-shift people Shit Outta Luck.

I had today (October 10) off since early August. Today would be my ex-girlfriend's and my 4-year anniversary, but we broke up a few weeks ago. Still, I haven't had a day off since.... well, damn... I can't remember the last day I had off. I even had to work on Labor Day. Even though I wouldn't have spent the night as was planned in August, I would have loved to have the night off. I could have gone out with some friends, or just stay at home and watch some primetime TV... something I haven't done since I started at this job last November.

But my boss came to me last week and asked if I could work tonight:

"I know it's your anniversary and all, but there's no way we can get Lynn* or Evan* to work for you Tuesday night. Is there anyway you can work?"

"Well, Danny*, my girlfriend and I broke up a couple of weeks ago, but I was still wanting to take the night off to just have a night off."

"Well, let me rephrase my question: You need to work Tuesday night."

"*SIGGGGGGGGHHHH* ok." [away from boss: "PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT"]

Next week I'm taking Thursday and Friday off to visit a fellow PFFTer in Chicago, and I'll be damned if I don't get the time off. If I don't get the time off, I may be visiting Chicago to find a new job. :)

NOTE: As always, names changed to protect the guilty
