Working Holidays
   by yawetag

As most of you are at home or at a friend's or relative's house filling your stomachs full of delicious food, yours truly is stuck at work.

No, it's not the fact that I'm at work that makes me mad. I'm getting paid a total of 28 hours for working 8 (8 hours holiday pay, 8 hours normal pay, 4 hours overtime pay, and I get to take the day off at a later date).

The thing that pisses me off about it is that I wouldn't have to be here if it wasn't for our AS/400 Tech. He decided that today would be a great day to do a full system backup and a storage reclamation. This process started at 8am this morning, and is expected to last until around 10pm tonight. If it wasn't for this grand(?) idea, I could still be at my house watching people get drunk and stuffing my stomach full of food.

Instead, I'm forced to work. There's only 2 people here. I wouldn't be as mad as I am if the Tech had said that he would come in to help with the reclamation. Instead, he's at his house stuffing his stomach.

So, to all of you that griped about being with family and friends, be thankful that you got to spend time with yours. It's not often I get the chance to see mine, and when I do, I have to work.

PFFT! to the Tech that decided Storage Reclamation is a good thing to do on Thanksgiving!
