Since when is "gay" a communicable disease?
by mike <firstname.lastname@example.org>
"...and by the authority invested in this Court of Honor by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America, this Court hereby awards the rank of Eagle Scout to Timmy Han- wait, you're gay? Oh, heh, sorry. Thanks for coming, though."
That's the way it is. The Boy Scouts of America (BSA), a household name in many states, have officially banned gay leaders from their ranks and have been supported by the Supreme Court.
PFFT! If I want to come on to my Assistant Scoutmaster, I'll come on to my Assistant Scoutmaster, got it? No one will tell me who I will and will not learn how to be gay from. That's right - Scout leaders are banned for being homosexual because they might corrupt the minds of the young scouts they teach.
How much horseshit can they possibly spew? I know several gay men and women, and I must say that they are some of the most level-headed, value-oriented individuals I know! Growing up in an intolerant society such as ours causes one to appreciate tolerance and learning about others. What better values can we instill in our future caretakers?
The BSA are forcing parents into difficult situations as well. How can a parent deny their child the opportunity to learn leadership skills and make friends? They can't. But what if that very same organization will teach the child to hate Uncle James simply because he's gay? I'm returning my damn Eagle Scout medal.
You know what the saddest thing about this is? Many people believe that the Boy Scouts won't pay any attention to our pleas for help unless the United Way withdraws funding as they've threatened. It's all about money.
...I say that money be diverted to my "Get Mira Sorvino to Be My Love Slave" fund. Send all contributions to me directly.
