Apparently, this is what you say
In reference to the previous story posted here, "What is there to say?".... well, apparently, if you're Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, -this- is what you say. From ABC News' web story...
The comments came as Falwell was appearing as a guest on Robertson's daily 700 Club program. Both expressed their sorrow and outrage over the attacks and advocated a strong response to the terror. Then Falwell elaborated on who, in addition to the terrorists who perpetrated the attacks, was responsible for them.
God, he told Robertson, had protected America "wonderfully these 225 years. And since 1812, this is the first time that we've been attacked on our soil and by far the worst results.
"Throwing God out successfully with the help of the federal court system, throwing God out of the public square, out of the schools," he said. "The abortionists have got to bear some burden for this because God will not be mocked. And when we destroy 40 million little innocent babies, we make God mad.
"[T]he pagans and the abortionists and the feminists and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way - all of them who have tried to secularize America," Falwell continued, "I point the finger in their face and say 'you helped this happen.'"
"Well, I totally concur," responded Robertson.
Well SHIT, Jerry. I'm glad you live in the United States of America, a country that holds freedom of choice, religion, and lifestyle as one of its core truths. Remember that whole "all men are created equal" thing? It's just too bad that that same freedom grants you permission to TOTALLY blast your country and its values. Not to mention the fact that the intolerance both of you have exhibited on a regular basis is in total contradiction with the tolerant and loving Jesus Christ, whom you both worship every Sunday, and His Father, who has forgiven us for our screwups.
It goes on to say later in the article that they both denied it. Um, well, I think I read that article right. Hell, I'm surprised he didnt add "and those dirty heathen Islamic bastards" too. It's their style, after all.
So, Jerry. You think that people who live their lives differently are to blame? Well guess what. -YOU- are to blame. Intolerant, ignorant, uncaring bastards who want to cram their way of life, their views, their thoughts, down other people's throats, are to blame. People who declare others unfit to even live, just because of the way they live their lives, are to blame.
Osama bin Laden issued a jihad against the US for their beliefs and actions. Jerry, you just issued a jihad against lots of Americans for the same reason. And I take personal offense at your words. You too, Pat. You agreed. You might as well have spoken the words yourself.
Personally, I think we should put both of you on a jetliner, send your sorry butts to Kabul, drop you off in front of a bunch of people who belive in bin Laden's cause, and see just how long you and your intolerance and hatred lasts. If you live through the first day, I personally would be amazed.
