Stupid Internet company...
   by rcn

From June 2002 until August 2003 I used an Internet company here in Britain called Breathe. As the months wore on, the service sucked more and more so in July I decided to phone up and cancel the account. Well, I tried. I couldn't get through, no matter when I phoned, so I tried emailing them. Nope, no response. In the end, after weeks of trying, I decided not to bother with the company any more, and just rang the bank and asked them to stop payments to this joke of a company, which they did.

Anyway, a few weeks later, I got an email demanding two months payment which I ignored (they say that if you don't pay for two months, then they cancel your subscription which to me was A-OK.) It also said that they were changing their name and the money would now be collected by a different billing company. Again, phoned the bank and cancelled payments to this new company.

I got an email on Oct. 15th replying to the one I sent them on Sept. 5th, saying "Sorry for the delay, yadda yadda yadda... we haven't received anything from you before Sept. 5th saying you want to cancel your account, your account has been active" and all kinds of shit like that... I was livid, as you'd expect. Adding insult to injury, it seems that £20 has been taken from my account to pay for the 2 months of access I didn't get because the servers were messed up and I had to use a different ISP, and I DID request that they cancel the account but they didn't bother reading the email until 6 weeks after I'd sent it! So I sent them a strongly-worded email back demanding an address for their manager's office. If I ever get a reply, you can bet I'll be writing to that manager in the blink of an eye. And if I don't get suitable results, I may just get in the car and go and pay the offices a visit, providing they're not too far away.

No-one screws me over this way and gets away with it.
