Who is this guy?
The guy I refer to is the getting-more-infamous Jeff Gannon/James Guckert, formerly of the White House press corps, more lately of male gay prostitution. Although the latter came before the former, we think, but it's hard to be sure. Anyway, the meat (heh) of it is that this Gannon/Guckert fellow used to run a bunch of military-themed gay prostitution websites, including a lot of pictures of him naked, and archives of these websites are still at The Internet Archive from the late 1990s. He also has similar domain names registered.
At some point about 2 years ago, Gannon/Guckert decided to go into journalism, so he signed up for a 2-day conservative journalism "school," got his "diploma," and went to work for Talon News, the "news" agency of a GOP group in Texas. He applied for a press pass at the Capitol, was turned down, and then applied for a press pass at the White House, and was granted a daily pass. He got daily passes for two years to go to White House press briefings, where he lobbed softballs for Scott McClellan and the Prez himself to smack out of the park. Oh, and he also had access to a classified CIA memo that outed Valerie Plame a couple of years back. Yeah. WTF?
So, the big question really isn't so much "Who is this guy?" as "What was this guy doing in the White House press corps, why were they taking his questions, and why did they give him access to classified CIA documents?" Oh, and if they had to have someone acting as their little media whore, did they have to go out and get an actual whore? Did some press office intern take things a little too literally a couple years ago when they found this guy? Too many questions, probably too many PFFTs.
